Data Engineer - Credit Risk Datalake (m/f)
Česká republika : Hlavní město Praha
What does this role involve?
We are building a central credit risk datalake that supports model development, validation, and regulatory reporting across the KBC group. To strengthen this platform, our Credit Risk Data team is looking for a Data Engineer to join us in ČSOB Prague.
In a regulated banking environment, data quality, consistency, and automation are essential. As expectations from regulators and internal stakeholders continue to grow, the challenge is to maintain and further develop a scalable, well‑structured credit risk datalake with reliable and transparent data flows.
As a junior–medior Data Engineer, you will:
- Actively contribute to the development, extension, and stabilization of a central credit risk datalake
- Design and improve data pipelines feeding the datalake, with growing ownership over selected components
- Implement and maintain data quality and consistency checks across datalake layers
- Support the standardization and automation of recurring datalake processes
Over time, you will increasingly take responsibility for parts of the datalake and contribute to:
- Straight‑through processing for recurring risk and modelling workflows
- Reliable datalake data delivery for model monitoring, back‑tests, and analytical use
- Structured monitoring of datalake quality and proactive issue resolution
You will join an international team across Prague and Belgium, combining strong data engineering capabilities with deep credit risk domain knowledge.
What you will do
- Design, build, and maintain Python‑based datalake pipelines for credit risk modelling and validation
- Work intensively with pandas, polars, and Spark to process and transform datalake data efficiently
- Optimize datalake transformations to handle large‑scale datasets in a stable, production‑ready way
- Integrate data pipelines into regular batch‑run processes
- Contribute to the further structuring and evolution of the credit risk datalake
- Collaborate closely with credit risk modellers and validators, translating their data needs into sustainable datalake solutions
- Gradually deepen your expertise in datalake architecture, structure, and best practices
What we value in you
- Consistent focus on code quality, performance, and maintainability
- Interest in banking, data governance, and regulated environments
- Ability to work independently on assigned tasks while collaborating effectively within the team
- Clear communication in English, including with non‑technical stakeholders
- Results‑oriented mindset and reliable handling of deadlines
Who you are
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent hands‑on experience
- Solid Python programming skills with practical experience using pandas, polars, and/or Spark
- Familiarity with Git and standard collaborative development workflows
- Growing understanding of data engineering concepts and datalake architectures, with motivation to take increasing ownership
What we offer you
- Strong learning and development opportunities, combined with real responsibility
- A clear growth path toward a full medior data engineering role
- Competitive salary and benefits, including banking and insurance products
- Healthy work‑life balance
- Open, supportive, and collaborative team culture
- Modern office next to Radlická metro in Prague
- Immediate or flexible start
