Join RAINBOW, KBC’s next-generation group data warehouse platform serving multiple banking and insurance entities across the organization.
RAINBOW is a large-scale, multi-tenant and event-driven data platform, where data flows are automatically triggered based on dependencies and conditions. With hundreds of contributors continuously developing and improving the platform, the environment is highly dynamic.
As a Datawarehouse Operator for Production, you play a key role in ensuring that data is correctly processed, loaded, and delivered to our customers — both business users and development teams. Your work enables them to validate changes, build reports, and move forward with their initiatives.
This is a hands-on operational role where execution, system understanding, and coordination come together.
What You’ll Do:
- Execute and monitor data flows using our internal orchestration tool (OT)
- Perform large-scale reloads after releases and targeted reloads after hotfixes or requests
- Monitor executions via OT dashboards, UAC Workbench, and Teradata
- Investigate failed or incomplete processes and raise issues to development teams
- Monitor system performance, including query behavior in Teradata
- Check and validate file deliveries on Linux systems
- Coordinate with business and development teams on requests, priorities, and status updates
- Ensure actions are safe by understanding dependencies and potential downstream impacts
- Contribute to continuous improvement by documenting processes as the platform evolves
👉 Your work directly supports our customers by delivering reliable, timely data and enabling reporting and validation
How You Work:
This role involves frequent interaction with tools and execution of flows—but it goes beyond simply running tasks.
You will:
- Think ahead before executing actions (“what could this impact?”)
- Understand how flows, mappings, and datasets are connected
- Decide when to proceed independently and when to escalate
- Operate confidently in a fast-changing environment with varying workload intensity
- Work closely with your teammates during work days in shifts – bussiness shifts (9:00 – 17:30) and rotating 1-2 afternoon shifts per week (12:30 - 21:00)
- Provide occasional weekend shift to support the environment after infrastructure downtimes/patchings (once per 1-2 months)
Your Profile
What Matters Most:
- Clear communicator, able to work with both technical and business stakeholders
- Strong analytical mindset and attention to detail
- Ability to understand complex systems and dependencies
- Structured and responsible way of working
- Comfortable in a dynamic environment with changing priorities
Technical Comfort:
- Basic to good SQL knowledge (understanding queries and results)
- Comfortable navigating Linux environments
- Interest in data flows, systems, and how they interact
Experience:
- Experience in data operations, application support, or system operations is a plus
- Familiarity with data warehousing or ETL concepts is helpful, but not required
👉 You don’t need to be a DWH expert, but you do need to understand how actions impact the system
Why This Role?
- Work on a complex, large-scale data platform with a unique architecture
- Be part of a high-impact operational team supporting a critical environment
- Experience a dynamic workload with peaks around releases and quieter periods in between

- Contribute to the growth of the platform by helping define and document new processes
What Makes This Role Unique?
- Not a typical data warehouse or IT operations role
- Combines execution, analysis, and coordination
