Dominik’s journey at KBC started in 2019. Having gained some experience in a small Czech bank, he joined the Brno branch as the Local Operation Risk Manager — he took care of a domain focused on testing, test automation and eventually supervised the teams managing payment engine with connected applications and processes. “When visiting Belgium, I got invited to a lot of important meetings and I met many inspiring high-level people,” he explains his motivation to keep up the good work.
He advanced his career by obtaining various IT and information security certifications — he even passed the notoriously difficult CISSP certification in cybersecurity. Then came the offer to work directly for Belgium as Information Security Officer, while still based at KBC’s Brno offices. Today, Dominik develops expert solutions for e.g. secure and efficient money transfers, and takes care of the standardisation of processes for the whole KBC Group. “Our team has only been established recently, the work is quite challenging right now, but very rewarding,” he adds.
Quite early on, Dominik realised that he enjoys meetings where he can discuss challenges and explore solutions, even though discussions can sometimes be demanding or heated — this is a much more satisfying task for him than spending endless hours on reporting and admin work. He believes people should find out what they enjoy and go for it. And that it’s certainly possible at KBC: “Anyone can impact how things are done here. What we appreciate is the proactive approach. We support internal recruitment, anyone can get transferred to a different team or department if they wish to.” He thinks everyone can find what suits them best at KBC in Brno. For some, it can be a less-demanding but secure role. And if you want to grow, you can always start with an entry-level position and work your way up.
