The role of Adobe Experience Manager Developer is gaining popularity in the ever-evolving landscape of technology and here at KBC Global Services, we are part of this trend, creating a team to navigate the complexities of AEM development.
An AEM developer specializes in creating and maintaining web applications using Adobe Experience Manager. This role involves a deep understanding of Java programming, OSGi (Open Service Gateway Initiative) and front-end development.
But wait, don’t just take our words for it - as we went straight to the source and sat down with Borislav Strahilov, who is part of the developers’ team working with Adobe Experience Manager. Read on to get a firsthand perspective from Boris about his role and experience at KBC Global Services.
What path has led you to your current job as an Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) Developer?
I started with web development and AEM development in my first job coming out of university. I started with basic tasks related to AEM, such as creating components, for example. Throughout the years, I continued to expand my knowledge in Adobe Experience Manager. Eventually, the knowledge that I’d gained paved a path for me to lead several teams as a technical lead.
Since starting, I’ve worked with dozens of clients, ranging from small businesses to multi-billion-dollar revenue businesses. Over the last eight years, working with AEM has given me the opportunity to learn a lot about web development and the industry in general.
What do you do as AEM Developer - tell us more about your role and responsibilities?
Currently, I am on the Digital Channels train at KBC Global Services, and I am specifically working within Website & Digital Content.
Our team is responsible for working with AEM and Spring Microservices, among other things, to allow various KBC websites to be up and running smoothly.
Some of the main responsibilities I have include but are not limited to working on bugs & updates to dispatcher to improve security, working closely with workflows and, of course, ensuring that our content sync systems are working correctly.
Can you describe what your typical day looks like?
I begin my workday with our team’s standup meeting. During the day, I work through any work-related tasks assigned to me based on priority and focus on the topics addressed in the morning standup.
I often collaborate with my team, whether it’s asking them questions or seeking advice, providing them feedback, or just talking about the work.
Lunch is a good time to rewind and chat with the colleagues outside of my team.
What motivates you at work?
What motivates me the most is knowing that the work I do has a direct impact on the customers of the bank and insurance entities within KBC Group.
What do you like most about working at KBC Global Services?
If I should name a few, that would be the openness of the teams and the fact that everyone is always glad to collaborate to resolve issues. It feels like a real community here at KBC Global Services.
