KBC Global Services is the engine behind KBC Group – a leading bank-insurance group with over 41,000  talented employees serving more than 12 million clients across Europe. Since 2021, we have been supporting the digital transformation of KBC Group providing software development, QA, AI and other IT solutions working on a wide range of projects combining classical IT with digital banking. 

As a UI Designer within the design team of the Digital Customer Experience (DCX) department: 

• You contribute to the look-and-feel of our apps and digital solutions. 
• You aim to deliver an intuitive and visually appealing user experience for our users.
• You will be responsible for setting up and enhancing our design system and working closely with the UX and development teams to create user-centered designs
• You’re designing for more than 2,2 million users, and according to Sia Partners the best banking app in Belgium (2021-2022-2023-2024) and worldwide (2024). 

Job content:

• You are responsible for expanding and managing our Design System (KBC Design Language). 
• You distill UI components from designs and describe them where necessary. 
• You follow up on newly created components and test them. 
• Develop and maintain our design system to ensure consistent and scalable UI components. You describe the specifications and behaviour of the components in our digital styleguide and compose them in Figma. 
• Implement accessibility guidelines (WCAG) to ensure that all users, including those with disabilities, can easily use the app and perform their job-to-be-done. 
• You actively think about the further evolution of our Design System and our digital style guide. 
• Your internal clients - the users of our style guide - are your close UX and UI Design colleagues, but especially the ICT colleagues: the component and front-end developers.  
• You think about the most optimal way of working (process, tools, etc.) when necessary. 
• You work closely with your fellow UI designers, but you also have sufficient technical knowledge to communicate with a front-end developers and tech leads, as they ultimately ensure the final result of your creations. Eg. on a bi-weekly meeting with the front-end tech leads you discuss the need for new and modifications of excisting components in different technologies (native, web,…).  

Key competences: 

• You hold at least a bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in one of the fields: Digital Design, Multimedia, Product Design, etc., but always with a clear focus on user interface design and an affinity for the technical aspects.  
• Proficiency in Figma and similar design and prototype tools. Not only designing stuff, but also managing a design system in Figma.  
• HTML, CSS, and JavaScript hold no secrets for you. You are familiar with a version control system (such as GIT).  
• You work smoothly and have an eye for detail. Also needed as a back-up for our asset and styleguide release manager.  
• You can work independently and manage your own planning well. 
• You think along about the UI (including usability, behavior, animations, etc.), but you can also discuss technical aspects (design system/components).  
• Knowledge of accessibility standards, including contrast requirements, screen reader compatibility and keyboard navigation. 
• And you’re also familiar with the Adobe Creative Suite tools (XD; Illustrator; Photoshop;…). 
• Knowledge of and experience with operating system-specific design guidelines is a must, as well as the necessary creativity to find a generic intermediate language, since we have one uniform “KBC Design Language” used for both Native and Web development. 
• Strong communication skills, fluent English.
