The role:
KBC Global Services is the engine behind KBC Group – a leading bank-insurance group with over 45,000 talented employees serving more than 12 million clients across Europe. Since 2021, we have been supporting the digital transformation of KBC Group providing software development, QA, AI and other IT solutions working on a wide range of projects combining classical IT with digital banking.
The Application Engineer is functionally responsible for one or more applications. Leveraging strong functional knowledge, the Application Engineer supports end-users and assists IT teams at a functional level. Together with the System Manager, the Application Manager ensures proper registration of applications within the APM module by providing the Meta System Code.
For technical issues, the Application Engineer collaborates with the System Administrator. Throughout the application lifecycle, the Application Manager ensures that the application continues to meet business needs. This includes responding to user queries on functional aspects by gathering information from developers (for in-house applications), support teams, or vendors (for purchased applications).
The Application Engineer acts as the primary point of contact between KBC and the software vendor. They ensure that the right stakeholders are involved at the right time to maintain a roadmap for the application, accounting for feature enhancements, design and security updates, and major upgrades in line with vendor and organizational policies.
Responsibilities and requirements:

• Communicate and support users by creating manuals and sharing updates on changes.
• Analyze and test all application changes from a business perspective.
• Ensure smooth day-to-day operation of the application (monitoring, data quality, incident resolution).
• Provide second-line support, including problem analysis and resolution.
• Approve requests in the Self-Service Portal.
• Initiate and follow up on application modifications, adhering to testing and release processes.
• Ensure software security and compliance, aligning with ISO/BISO, legal, and other requirements.
• Define functional requirements that reflect user needs across services.
• Consult with the System Administrator on technical aspects of requirements.
Examples of responsibilities include:
• Preparing and supervising implementations.
• Documenting functional installation procedures.
• Initiating application changes and analyzing existing procedures for improvement.
• Defining priorities for application enhancements.
Security and Stability Responsibilities:
• Monitor and address vulnerabilities and urgent security updates disclosed by vendors, KBC CERT, or third parties.
• Track feature updates and quality-of-life improvements.
• Manage end-of-life or end-of-support notices.
Required experience:
• Strong analytical skills and ability to resolve problems independently.
• Hands-on experience and deep understanding of M365 suite.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Strong stakeholder management skills to liaise with broader IT network (SBO, TA, ISO).
